This creamy, comforting, and versatile dish can be enjoyed hot or cold, for breakfast or dessert, and with a variety of toppings and flavorings. Sweet and spicy in taste, Creamy Rice Pudding has been adapted and perfected to suit all cultures and taste buds. But what makes a good rice pudding dessert?
200 grams round rice
1 liter milk
100 g sugar
1 vanilla pod
lemon or orange peel (optional)
Cinnamon Powder (for sprinkling)
Preparation of Creamy Rice Pudding:
Wash the rice in cold water to remove excess starch.
Pour milk into a saucepan and add rice.
Cut the vanilla pod in half lengthwise and scrape out the seeds with a knife. Add seeds and vanilla pod to pan.
Add lemon or orange zest for extra flavor, if desired.
Heat the mixture on medium heat until it boils.
Then reduce the heat to low and cook for about 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally so that the rice does not stick to the bottom of the pan.
Add sugar and mix well till it dissolves completely.
Remove pan from heat and let cool to room temperature.
After cooling, remove the vanilla pod.
Pour the rice pudding into bowls or individual dishes and refrigerate them for at least 2 hours, until they are very cold.
Before serving, garnish with slices of fruit or sprinkle cinnamon powder on top to add an extra touch of flavor.
