Hot Cross Bun – A traditional Easter bun that is super easy to cook for your home party.

Material:

For Buns:

450 grams flour
4 eggs
200 g butter
4 tbsp milk
50 grams brown sugar
1 tsp dry yeast
zest of 1 orange
1 tsp mixed spices
1 tsp ground cardamom
80 grams raisins

For Garnish:

50 grams flour
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon sugar
ground cardamom

One day before preparation:

First of all, beat eggs and milk in a large bowl.
Add the flour, sugar, yeast, spices, orange peel, raisins and a pinch of salt to the bowl of your hook beater and mix on medium speed.
Then pour the egg mixture over the top, keep whipping the butter in pieces, gradually increase the speed and knead for 10 minutes.
When the dough separates from the sides of the bowl, cover the bowl and keep it overnight.

Recipe day:

Roll out the dough on a floured work surface, then cut it into 12 balls.
Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper, then place your balls on top, leaving a space between them, cover them, and leave to rest for 2 hours.
Preheat your oven to 180°.

Filling Preparation:

Mix all purpose flour, sugar, water and cardamom in a bowl and then fill a piping bag with this mixture.
Then make two crossed lines on each ball and keep it in the oven to cook for 20 minutes.
