If you’re looking for a tempting dessert, or just for fun, this upside-down Banana and Caramel Cake will be a hit!
- 150 grams flour
- 2 bananas
- 100 grams butter
- 100 g + 3 tbsp sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 teaspoon water
- 2 tablespoons rum
First preheat your oven to 180°, butter and line a mold with parchment paper – to easily unmold your cake.
Put 3 tbsp sugar in an even layer in a pan, sprinkle water and keep it on medium flame.
Once your caramel is done remove the pan from the heat then pour your caramel into the mold – on the parchment paper.
Peel and cut the bananas lengthwise into slices and arrange on top of the caramel.
In a bowl beat the eggs with 100 grams of sugar with a mixer until the mixture turns white, then add the butter and beat.
Once your mixture is homogeneous, add the flour and baking powder and continue whisking on medium speed.
Pour rum over the top and whisk again.
Pour your batter over the bananas then put your mold in the oven to cook for 20 to 25 minutes.
At the end of cooking, let your cake cool for between 4 and 6 minutes, then invert it onto a plate and remove the parchment paper—it’s easy to remove thanks to the buttercream.
Finally your cake is ready, all you have to do is cut it and serve, good appetite to all.
